It has a velvet back and spine which is worn with age. The cover, I think, is a type of plastic made to look like bark with a picture of a deer/buck etched in the middle. It is about 2 1/2" thick with 16 thick cardboard pages. The pages are in good shape with the exception of one which is pictured. The brass clasp is not complete and doesn't lock.
