Description Vintage Jhagee Dresden Astraflex 55 Very Rare! This auction is for an extremely rare and little known of Astraflex 55 35mm film camera with a T star coated Zeiss Biotar 5.8cm f/2.0 lens. The Astraflex 55 Camera is essentially an Exakta VX, Version 2 camera that was imported in minuscule numbers in the 1950's by Sterling Howard Photo of the Bronx, NY. A special nameplate, engraved "Astraflex 55" was riveted to the front of the camera over the Exakta logo and the serial numbers were scratched off. This particular serial number is still partially visible and the first three numbers appear to be “734”. Cosmetically, the camera is surprisingly clean and appears to have been handled very little. The leather has some areas of slight wrinkling but this is not very noticeable. The shutter seems to be accurate, and fires consistently. The lens focuses properly, albeit a bit stiffly, and the aperture is very smooth. The focusing screen is in nice condition. “Rare” is an often over-used word when describing equipment on Ebay, but is most appropriate in this case - Only a few vintage camera fans have ever seen one of these cameras in this kind of condition.
