Weighing less than 29 lbs, the AJ-LT95 travels easily between field and studio. A casing made of tough aluminum diecast gives the AJ-LT95 the ideal combination of light weight and rugged durability. It also comes standard with a rear panel protector to prevent damage to the terminals. 4-Channel Digital Audio with Fader The AJ-LT95 features four channels of high-quality 48-kHz/16-bit digital audio. Complete with 4-channel audio fader levers and 4-channel input and output terminals, the AJ-LT95 handles virtually the same operations as an audio mixer. A linear cue audio track adds convenience when searching for edit points. *In DVCPRO mode there are two digital audio channels. DVCPRO50/DVCPRO Switchable Recording The AJ-LT95 can record and play back in both DVCPRO50 and DVCPRO formats. In DVCPRO50 mode the AJ-LT95 can record up to 92 minutes onto an AJ-5P92LP compact 1/4" cassette tape, while in DVCPRO mode recording time is doubled, to 184 minutes*. In playback, the AJ-LT95 automatically detects which format the tape was recorded in and switches accordingly. Wide-Screen (16:9) Editing Two wide-screen (16:9) 7-inch LCD monitors let you play back and edit material recorded with 16:9 camera/recorders, such as the AJ-D900W, AJ-D910WA and AJ-D610WA. A line connection with either of these units also gives you a convenient image check and back-up recording. Also, 16:9/4:3 can be switched. Multi-Event Editing Up to 200 Events The AJ-LT95 is designed for efficiency. Use VTR1 as a player and VTR2 as a recorder for quick, easy assemble and insert editing. The 200 event memory makes it simple to add the cuts you want. In insert editing mode, the video channel, four audio channels*, and time code channels can each be selected separately. * two channels in DVCPRO mode Numeric Keypad The AJ-LT95 is equipped with the same numeric keypad as a studio editor. Professional editing controls include input of time codes or increment/decrement values, or input of event numbers. On-Screen Display of EDL Data During multi-event editing, you can display the EDL on the monitor for easy checking. On-screen display also makes it easier to adjust many editing-related settings. Audio Dubbing, Split and "Swap" Editing In insert editing mode you can add narration through the mic input. Split editing, in which the timing of the video and audio are shifted, can be done using either the video or the audio as reference. Swap editing lets you interchange and record two audio source channels. Time Code Reader, Tape Remaining Time Display Each VTR features a built-in SMPTE time code generator and reader, making it possible to edit with exact, to-the-frame precision. CTL editing is also possible. Plus, the counter can be switched to show the tape remaining time. Jog/Shuttle Search The AJ-LT95 has a search dial for forward or reverse searching at up to 32 times normal speed, adjustable in 23 steps. Serial Digital Input and Output The AJ-LT95 is equipped with one set of serial digital (SMPTE 259M-C) input* and output* terminals and two sets (VTR1/VTR2) of AES/EBU input and output terminals. These allow connection to a host of digital equipment for degradation-free signal transmission. * Input for VTR2 only, Output for VTR1/VTR2 switchable A Variety of Analog Inputs and Outputs Analog component video (Y/PB/PR) input and output terminals are provided for both VTR1 and VTR2, and the Y terminal can be switched to composite in/out. Also, analog audio input and output are possible for all four channels*, and video (VTR1/ VTR2) and audio (L/R) monitor output terminals are provided. *Analog Composite/Component In for 525 only. 9-Pin (RS-422A) Remote* 9-pin (RS-422A) remote terminals are provided for both VTR1 and VTR2, allowing remote control from an external editing controller or other equipment. This gives you greater flexibility — for example, it allows you to use the AJ-LT95 as two players. Connecting an external VTR via the 9-pin (RS-422A) remote terminal on the VTR1 side, the AJ-LT95 can control it as the source VTR and edit from it on the VTR2 side. This greatly simplifies editing and dubbing from archived material recorded in analog component or other formats. * 525 mode only Time Code Input and Output for Synchronized Recording The AJ-LT95 is equipped with time code input and two (VTR1/VTR2) output terminals that let you synchronize to an external time code. This is especially useful when recording simultaneously from multiple cameras. *The same terminals are used for time code output and video monitor output (they are switched by menu selection). They cannot be used for both time code output and video monitor output at the same time. EDL Terminal for Uploading and Downloading An EDL terminal (D-SUB 9-pin/male) lets the AJ-LT95 upload and download EDL data to a personal computer. This adds flexibility, making it possible to use data that has been rough-edited on the AJ-LT95 for final editing in the studio. Input Monitor The VTR input select switch lets you use the AJ-LT95 to record an external source or you can monitor the input by depressing and holding the EXT CHECK button. This is convenient when the AJ-LT95 is connected to a camera and in recording standby mode.
