It's an outstanding "workhorse" scanner for the photography or publications professional. As a reminder however, the major features include: 4000 dpi true optical resolution for all film formats Exclusive Scanner NIKKOR ED high resolution optics 16-bit A/D converter for Superior image reproduction in detail with 4.8 optical density max High-speed scanning (35mm slide film: 40 sec., 6x9: 185 sec. full resolution scan time) Low-noise 3 line mono-chrome CCD doubles the scanning speed Exclusive rod dispersion LED illumination for accurate color consistently Multi-format for 16mm, 35mm, and up to 6x9 film Digital ICE4 Advanced with Digital ICE Professional for image restoration/adjustment (compatible with KODACHROME film in most scenes) Improved Nikon Scan 4 software with all new Scan Image Enhancer for automatic color/contrast compensation Easy image data management with NikonView Highly Accurate Color Management System Multi-Sample Scanning (2,4,8,16X) for increased detail I bought this scanner about 2 months ago to convert my negative archives to digital, and now I'm done. After about 200 scans, the mechanism is still rock-solid. I've not have a single hiccup. Should you purchase this scanner, please spend some time familiarizing yourself with the software and features. There is a lot to learn, but with a little time and effort, the process becomes very intuitive. Note for example, that autofocus only works properly when you 'preselect' the type of film. Trying to focus on a color slide when the software is set for 'grayscale negative' will produce less than optimal images ... This auction includes the scanner itself with power cord, 3 film holders (1 each for 35mm slide, 35mm film, and medium-format film up to 6x9), 4 installation CDs (Windows and Mac), 2 IEEE 1394 firewire cables for both standard and mini ports, and two "light blocker" strips for use when filling only one side of the 35mm holder. Reference manuals are in .pdf format on the CDs. NOTE: The IEEE 1394 PC interface card shipped with the original package IS NOT included. YOU WILL NEED an available Firewire port on your computer in order to use this scanner!! Buyer pays calculated shipping USPS or UPS within US, and insurance is mandatory. Returns accepted only if item is mis-represented. I prefer Paypal, but I will accept money orders and cashiers checks. Item does not ship until payment has cleared the bank. Bid with confidence, I get good feedback. Thanks for bidding.
