Nikon Super CoolScan LS-2000 Film & Slide Scanner"Drum-scanner quality", plus amazing "Digital ICE" defect-removal * True professional-quality scans * 2700 dpi resolution (28 meg file from 35mm neg!) * 36-bit color depth, plus 16x for 42-bit equivalent * High-speed SCSI interface (card included for PC) * Amazing "Digital ICE" dust & scratch removal Nikon is one of the truly famous names in photographic history, with a well-deserved reputation for optical quality. Nikon forged new ground with their "CoolScan" family of slide and film scanners, the "Cool" in the name referring to the use of LEDs as the light source, rather than an incandescent lamp. Their earlier Super CoolScan LS-1000 was by any measure an excellent scanner, but with the LS-2000, Nikon has achieved dramatic improvements, and significantly raised the bar for the entire field of desktop scanners. There are later scanners (most recently the 9000) but this is a high quality scanner that remains afordable. With a retail price of less than $2,000 US, the LS-2000 set a new standard for desktop scanning, and introduced a near-magical technology for automatically removing dirt and film blemishes. The Nikon LS-2000 Super CoolScan Film Scanner is designed with businesslike efficiency in mind, offering a desktop digital color scanner adapted for 35mm film in strip or slide format. With photo enthusiasts in mind, the Super CoolScan features superb color accuracy and 2,700 dpi optical resolution. All these advantage tally up to premium quality and resolution with 36-bit color images in file sizes up to 58 MB. Nikon's Color Management System allows you to produce expeditiously sharp scans with notably true-to-life colors. Top-quality output is the paramount concern behind the design of the compact (5.5 pounds) Super CoolScan. You can scan 35mm film strips or slides and Advanced Photo System film. Adapters permit an exchange of film types without resetting the scanner or software. The average scan time is approximately 20 seconds at 2,700 dpi optical resolution. LED technology provides unadulterated, dependable color without requiring recalibration and supports work in 1 of 10 RGB color spaces, plus CMYK. The multisample scanning feature permits automatic removal of surface imperfections from your scans and a high dynamic range of 3.6. The Nikon LS-2000 Super CoolScan's compatibility with both PC and Mac is particularly convenient for business needs. For more scaling options, the LS-2000 scanner is bundled with Altamira Genuine Fractals software. Product DescriptionGet great results from slides, strip film or Advanced Photo System film with the Super Coolscan 2000 from Nikon. This scanner's results can rival that of drum scanners with its Multi-Sample scanning technology, a scanning method that samples the image up to 16 times, then combines the data into one image. The Super Coolscan 2000 scans 35mm film and Advanced Photo System film (with optional adapter), positive or negative, color or monochrome. PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING!!! This unit is PRISTINE in the original factory bags and packaging, but has, in fact, been used twice. It is in perfect, thought it was new, shape. It fooled me, but the giver has fessed up this morning when he heard that I was selling it! I can guarentee that it is in perfect, pass for new shape. The user is meticulous with all equipment. My intention is not to misrepresent the scanner, and so please note that you are bidding on a scanner which has, in fact, been used/tested. I am unable to CHANGE the listing, but am adding to it today, 9/2/08 at 9:42 am, to inform any bidders after this time. I apologize for the confusion, please email with any questions! It is still absolutely worth the starting price.
