The ML-3 is a remote control device for compatible Nikon cameras.  This one was used on an F100 including once catching the kids trying to sneak downstairs Christmas morning.  It works by either pushing the button on the remote or will automatically trigger the camera if something moves between the trigger and the IR receiver. The ML-3 receiver unit mounts on (flash shoe) or near the camera and attaches via a ’10 pin’ cable.  It is compatible with most higher end Nikon film or digital SLR cameras with a ’10 pin’ connector.  However, it is up to you to know if it works with your camera.
