Description
I'm selling my Nikon Coolpix 5700 and all the stuff I've bought for it over the years - including an Ikelite underwater housing to use while scuba diving. This is all used equipment, of course, but new its cost me well over $2,000, and a new Ikelite housing for this is going for $1200 (see item number: 260294804730). I'm offering the used Ikelite AND camera AND extra equipment at $700. The camera is in good condition, some wear marks here and there, but works fine. It comes with a Nikon 4-filter kit, two batteries, the MB-E5700 AA Battery Adapter Pack, AV Cable and USB cable. Ebay only allows 12 photos, so if you'd like to see all the photos, there's 25 photos of this package at http://www.flickr.com/photos/15616231@N05/ A few of these photos also demonstrate the camera in operation so you can see the screen/viewfinder works fine. The MB-E5700 really (for me) made this little camera feel like a camera. WIthout it, it just felt a little small in my hands. But the best part is the AA Battery capability. The only time I ever used the two on-board batteries was while diving or snorkeling. The Ikelite housing was used when I bought it, and I've taken it down six times. Never flooded. The only part that doesn't function on it is the strobe connector if you were to use an external strobe. So without a strobe, you're OK for available light on day dives down to 60ft. For caves, wreck, cenotes, night dives, I have no idea - never done that kind of diving. But its been a lot of fun on the dives that I did and I liked the feature for movies. I also snorkeled with it in the Bahamas. The ikelite housing comes with a "kickstand" for storing during non use, a red filter (very important for underwater photography), extra O rings, extra buttons and caps for the inside, and extra screw mounts for the camera. I have to be honest and say that the thing I don't like about Ikelite is their habit of discontinuing a model line as soon as the "latest thing" comes on the market. That means that getting spare parts from them is an issue, or getting them to perform maintenance or repairs is an issue. But as long as you know this going in, then you're informed. I made the decision to buy knowing this - and did the same on my D-70 Ikelite purchase. You're biggest fear in buying something on ebay is this: What if it floods? Well, you can look at my feedback rating. I'm not some "power seller", but I've bought and sold camera and other hobby stuff over the years. I'm honest about the condition and easy to contact. I'd recommend that when you get it, take it down to your pool and put some tissue inside - then jump in. You'll figure out real quick if its leaking - and it won't. But that's what I did, so when I finally took it down I took it down with confidence. So, if you're interested in getting into underwater photography, this is a great price to get started with - without taking your expensive SLR to the bottom - which is why I'm selling this system. I'm switching to a housing for my D70 and don't see a point in keeping the 5700.
