It is Nikon's first rangefinder camera. Nikon gave its first 35mm production camera a 24x32mm format. The Nikon I crowds 40 exposures on to a 36 exposure small format film. Its specifications include an integrated rangefinder, external dial for focusing the lenses mounted on the inside bayonet, alternative outside bayonet mount, cloth shutter, removable back, film rewind knob, removable take up spool, switch for A (normal use) or R (rewind), shutter speeds of 1/20, 1/30 1/40, 1/60 1/100 1/200 1/500sec and B, accessory shoe, Nippon Kogaku trade mark engraved on the top, and MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN engraved on the bottom plate. A total of only 739 bodies were produced and their serial numbers run from 6091 to 609759. Of these only 400 cameras were actually delivered, the remainder rebuilt into Nikon M models.   Serial number of this camera is 609736, one of the latest made, absolutely in original condition,  comes with a colapsible Nikkor-H-C 5cm f/2 lens serial number: #811185. Camera and lens are in exc+ condition. No dings or scratches, top and base plate very clean, viewfinder very clean, rangefinder accurate with excelent contrast, shutter works but need CLA, there is a substance on the shutter curtain as pictured and a small leatherette missing on one side (please see photos). The lens is clean, clear, without scratches, separation, fungus or visible dust, the serial number of the back is matching with  the body. Comes with original front cap and original leather case.
