It's in excellent condition and boxed with instructions, plus AA batteries.The grip screws into the camera's tripod socket, adding around 35mm (1.5 inches) of height. This makes the camera easier to handle for many people, especially those with larger hands who find modern cameras "too small". This can help with steadiness, too, especially with larger telephoto or zoom lenses, reducing camera shake.A vertical shutter release and moulded grip provide much improved handling when holding the camera upright, and this has a lock to prevent accidental exposures. A main command dial is provided on the rear, along with an AF on button. The grip accepts 6x standard AA batteries to power the camera, and these are easily obtainable and inexpensive in most places. Disposable Alkaline (supplied) or Lithium and rechargeable NiCd or NiMH types can be used, lasting up to 60 rolls of film (depending on battery type, temperature and flash usage). The Nikon MN-15 NiMH Battery Unit can also be used (NOT supplied), which enables faster shooting at up to 5 frames per second, depending on shutter speed. This is a genuine Nikon grip, is very well made (in Japan) from high quality materials, and weighs only 220g without batteries.
