Description
Minty Miller DS20 with carbon fiber legs. I'm in NJ and just took this in to Miller located in Cedar Grove, the tech gave it a going over and tweaked it to perfection, replacing a bolt putting it to factory new condition. This rig is PERFECT, I mean it looks pristine, like it just came out of the box. It's been so lightly used its amazing, not a scratch on it. It's rated at 11-22 lbs with drag and counterbalance to handle larger DVcam rigs, or hanging long lenses off your camera. The tech was very happy to talk about the sticks with me; told me it's an unusual combination, that they don't offer anymore. He said the combo of DS20 head and carbon fiber legs was too expensive and did not sell very well at all, so they discontinued it. Now they only offer the DS20 head on aluminum legs. Let's be quite clear about this; its no longer available in this configuration! Currently this head with ALUMINUM legs sells for $1500. This combo with CARBON FIBER was over $2500 when it was even available. Comes with midlevel spreader/rubber pads for feet/padded bag/pan handle. Unfortuately, its missing the camera plate, but thats easy enough to fix, they're available for about $75 here on ebay. Wish I could keep it, but it's too much tripod for my DVX100a, and I never could hang that much weight on it to reach the lower limit of 11 lbs, so it goes up for bid. Through my whole video career, I've continually upgraded my gear with the goal to have the best I could afford of each item. Last year when I got a Sachtler DV2, I thought I had reached the pinnacle for my tripod needs; I Was wrong. This DS20 is nicer than my Sachtler, its lighter with the carbon fiber, has more adjustments, and just plain looks and feels better in most ways. Miller invented the fluid head back in the 40's and revolutionized the film industry. Til that time, camera moves were pretty "herky jerky" and involved lots of cranking and repositioning for each new shot. Bid confidently on this tripod, its worth every penny due to its unavailability anymore. A rare combination of payload and lightweight carbon fiber makes it a monster in the field. Very easy to carry, yet capable of carrying 11-22 lbs worth of camera. I'm so sorry to part with this beautiful tripod but it deserves a better home, than I can give it right now. It shouldn't spend its life in a bag in the closet (not that theres anything wrong with that) I accept paypal only and it will be $50 to ship with insurance. http://www.miller.com.au/about.cfm?sectid=10 http://www.enggadgets.com/Miller-850-DS-20-Tripod-System;jsessionid=0a0101421f43af27cbb8716f44b88e56e20dfa505126.e3eSc3iSaN0Le34Pa38Ta38Naxv0
