Description
LEICA LEITZ IIIg IIIg Camera body Serial No. 869760 5cm f2 Summitar collapsible lens Serial No. 796392 The last of the Barnack Leicas and some say the best camera Leica ever made. Brightline frame for 50 and 90mm lenses, the viewfinder is clean and bright and the rangefinder is accurate. The centre rangefinder focus spot easily visible. This camera was serviced about 18 months ago and has lived in a humidity controlled cabinet. Cosmetically it’s in very good condition the vulcanite is perfect, no missing or loose bits. Even the strap lugs are in good condition, these are usually the first place to show brassing or wear, there are a few scratches present but you have to look hard to see them. The chrome finish is in very good condition no brassing anywhere, only signs of light use as would be expected from a camera this age. There are a few minor scratches around the small circular viewfinder on the front of the camera, very minor but I know how fanatical Leica buyers can be so I will mention every little blemish I see. The shutter is working on all speeds and the shutter curtain is supple and in excellent condition, no signs of cracking and no holes or burn marks. The self timer is working and is even in its travel, no sticking or slow spots. 5cm Summitar. This lens is scratch and fungus free and very clean to look through, no cloudiness or haze only a few minor specks of dust. The aperture is oil free and the focus is smooth and even to operate, it is a coated lens. I have provided plenty of photos please examine them carefully to decide the condition for yourself. PLEASE NOTE, this item will only be sent by post with full tracking and will be insured for the sale value plus the cost of postage. I am selling off my collection of cameras, some I have used some I have not. I inspect each item before listing and try to give an accurate description; any faults are pointed out to my best ability. I always inspect lenses before listing by shining a torch through to show up any faults or marks, usually the faults I point out would go un-noticed in a normal inspection. I am not a store and this is an online auction, so this item is selling as-is, there is no return or refund. I do not have the time to handle any returns especially when buyers change their mind. All of my collectable cameras are sold without a guarantee. Unless specified they have not been serviced and only the basic functions tested. I will only accept returns if the item is significantly different from my description. If an item is damaged in the post I will refund your money upon its return but I cannot refund the cost of postage. Vintage and collectible items are offered for the collectors market and as such are not necessarily in working order. Thank you and happy bidding. OVERSEAS POSTAGE COSTS vary greatly depending on the postal zone and weight of the item. As a guide the cost to post a 1kg item by Air Mail is --- ASIA/PACIFIC $25.00 --- USA / CANADA / MIDDLE EAST $30.00 --- THE REST OF THE WORLD $35.00
