JUMBO Matte Box with Rod Support for Wide Angle & Fish Eye Lenses The mattebox is specifically designed for the use with any DV, HD, or Beta camera A matte box is a camera accessory that essentially does the same thing as a lens hood and also mounts in front of the lens, but usually includes adjustable fins called French flags. These can be moved and adjusted to reduce lens glare. A matte box is an important device for quality photography and film making. THE KIT INCLUDES : Mattebox Rod Support French flags (one small & one large) with side flags Two 4" x 4" square filter holder Rubber Donut Rings Height adjustable front Bracket for connecting a matte box Camera is not included MATTE BOX : The special design of the top and side flags allow for an extended bellows effect for maximum light control. This matte box design is the ultimate for performance in the field. The matte box avoids the first filter stage being blocked by the microphone, allowing it to rotate 180°. Hard shade designed for 16:9 format Ideal for use with larger and/or wider angle lenses Front rods connecting bracket with vertical adjustment Packed with features that protect your camera and enhance your creativity, the more compact and lightweight operation this mattebox can be used as "clip-on" mattebox, which means the Mattebox fits on the front of your internal focus lens. The mattebox is mounted with a "Quick-Lock" system. ROD SUPPORT This support is handy while using mattebox and tripod simultaneously. If a mattebox is attached to the camera with 15mm supports, it might not be possible to attach it to the tripod. For this, universal base plate is used. this base plate raises the camera and makes it possible to attach it to the tripod i.e. You can attach or de-attach Tripod without disturbing your DV Camera and Mattebox Setting. DIMENSIONS : Diameter = 15mm Length = 255mm (25.5cm) Distance between two rod (from center of rod to center of rod) = 60mm Height from the tripod plate to camera base plate = 40mm CENTRAL BRACKET - This adapter makes it for the matteboxs possible to be used on rod support,i.e, used to combine mattebox with rod support. The Central Bracket is with quick release mechanism. ROD SPECIFICATIONS: Tripod Spacer and Mount / Adjuster are made up of metal and is black iodized. Rods are made of Aluminium. Mount / Adjuster is made of metal. Mounting Hole: 1/4" & 3/8" The matte box can be moved horizontally as well as vertically. This matte box is manufactured with height adjustment. Central bracket is with quick lock mechanism. It is used for the rods attachment to the matte box FRENCH FLAG & SIDE FLAGS : French Flag fits on the Jumbo Matte Box; it adds light control to the sunshade by blocking out harsh light sources such as the sun and broad lights. By controlling unwanted lens flare and glare. The Flags are very useful addition to the Matte Box. Dual pivot mechanisms are integrated into the housing for more cost efficient use of side wings. Two side flags with maximum expension of 200mm and 140 inch wide, can be collapsed into just 120mm. Two French Flags (one small and one large) are provided. ROTATING FILTER HOLDERS There are two filter holders with Matte Box. Rotating filter holder enables user to eject or install square filter without disturbing microphone or flash settings. One filter holder is stationary while the other one is rotationary in nature. The French Flag (the light shield above the lens) can be adjusted in order to block out stray or unwanted light. Adding Side wings completes the mattebox and gives the operator total control over the light striking the CCD. It also allows the use of professional quality filters. One filter stage rotates allowing the use of special effect filters and the second filter stage is stationary for use with conventional filters or grads. The lightweight device features two 4 inch wide filter stages, one fixed, while the other rotates 180 degrees. The matte box handles any filter ranging up to 4"× 4" Also included: a sunshade and an adjustable, removable French flag. It has one fixed and one rotating filter holder, plus a French flag. Using the matte box makes filter changes a simple matter of pulling out one holder and inserting the next one. Corals, Grads, Neutral Density, (great for reducing light and altering your depth of field) No unscrewing filters and juggling around. The ease with which you can add filtration when you're using a matte box is another strong reason to add one to your kit. RUBBER DONUT RINGS : Mattebox with rod support attaches to DV cameras in such a way that only a soft rubber cushioned lens ring (DONUT) contacts your lens barrel, so you don't have to worry about your lens during the bumps and grinds of capturing exciting footage. Five Donut Rigs are provided: 81mm, 78mm, 75mm, 65mm, 54mm. One donut ring is plane so as to cut it according to your camera dia. Kit includes five rubber donut rings. ASSEMBLY The assembly of the unit was intuitive and simple. We provide manual for its assembly. The entire matte box assembly attaches to the camera by a screw-on adapter. MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP The matte box itself is made from ABS plastic. Everything looks intentional. The reinforced edges are machine-bent. Bolts are well placed, spaced and consistent. We have designed the Matteboxes with an exchangeable insert adapter ring. This means that for each lens with a different front outside diameter you will need a different type of adapter ring.
