It shoots on High Def DV tapes, or the JVC DR-HD100, which they NO LONGER MAKE!!! Camera was turned on to make sure everything works. I bought the Anton Bauer Dionic 90 twin battery kit, because the battery JVC sends with the camera is a joke (dies in 15 minutes after a complete charge). The Anton Bauer batteries each provide roughly 3 hours of camera use when fully charged, and cost over $1,200 together (they are BRAND NEW...NOT used!!). The DR-HD100 is the ONLY 100 GB direct-to-edit hard drive that will work with the JVC GY-HD110. It is a little upsetting that JVC would make a proprietary hard drive attachment, but the benefits far outweigh the cost (which is tremendous). With the DTE HD, you can record AND PRESENT native 24p images (when you record 24pN on a Mini DV or HD DV tape, it does a 2:3 pulldown conversion, and your end result is 29.97, because that is the speed of the tape. Eliminate the tape, and you can store and edit true 24pN footage), go straight to your computer without having to capture in real time (it is as fast as sending a file from a hard drive to a computer... which is exactly what it is!), and you can hold much more than a 60 or 90 minute dv tape, and at much higher quality. The camera also includes the 16x Fuji Lens, which I have noticed many GY model camcorders on ebay are being sold without (even though the photo shows the lens). With this auction, you get EVERYTHING that you need to start shooting. Including 2 Vanguard Aluminum hard cases, and a 1GB SD card to program and save your preferences on the camcorder. I bought this because I wanted to make the jump to HD, but found that since purchasing it, I have never needed to use it, and all my clients want their stuff shot in Standard definition.
