Unlike the manual pull-down screens, this model mounts perfectly flat without any waves folds or creases to any wall. You can even suspend it from the ceiling! The NEW 2008 DaLite Permwall 52x92 16:9 HDTV Screen (This screen sells at my store for $795.00) This auction is for a brand new, factory boxed Da-Lite brand screen with a full one year manufacturer's warranty. Unlike the square screens this screen is a 52"x92" HDTV format (16:9 letterbox aspect ratio) screen with a diagonal measurement of 106". This screen is designed specifically for use with an HDTV video projector. Although the cost is a little greater, screens with the 16:9 aspect ratio are much better for home theater setups because they eliminate the annoying "letterbox" look common to square screens. Like movie theater screens, the Da-Lite Permwall Video Projector Screen has standard 2 inch black borders all around. Designed for permanent mounting to the wall or in a wall opening. Front or rear projection surfaces snap easily on to the front of the aluminum frame. This is a Brand New screen factory Boxed with a one year warranty. We specialize in projection screens and related equipment for your HOME THEATER! Choosing A Front Projection Screen 1. ASPECT RATIO Determine your viewing habits and source material. Will you be exclusively watching 16:9 DVD's and HDTV, or will you occasionally watch 4:3 material from tape and standard TV broadcast If your source material is mostly 16:9 then a HDTV screen may be best for your home theater. Choosing a 16:9 screen and watching 4:3 material causes a few issues..not necessarily bad. Obviously a square will fit inside a rectangle, but if that square is the same WIDTH as the rectangle you have a problem. The 4:3 (VIDEO Size) image will be taller then the 16:9 and in this case some of your projected image will be above and below the screen. You can either squeeze the image down to fit or simply blank off the upper and lower areas and that part of the image will be lost. Or you scale the image down to fit inside. Depending on what you are watching this may or may not be a problem. (Consider sports: nba, nfl, nhl, tennis, golf, auto racing, ski, ice scating etc. where the score may be on the top edge of the image) If you watch a fair amount of 4:3 material, then we recommend a 4:3 screen. Any 16:9 or letterboxed material will simply leave an unused portion on the top and the bottom of the screen. With front projection this is much less noticeable than it is on a conventional TV since the surrounding and unused area of the screen are simply black when in the dark. Dalite and Draper both have models ranging from Insta Theater, Video Spectra, cosmopolitan, executive, tab tensioned, square format, damat, pearlecent, cinema vision, datex, dualvision, letterbox, hdtv, sxga, svga, high power, Grey hawk, low contrast, audio Vision. 1.5 glass beaded, dual fabric, giant wide angle and others. 2. SCREEN SIZE How large should I go Ideally, take the screen height and double it. That's the distance the closest viewer should be from the screen. This helps to prevent viewer fatigue from having to follow the images on too large of a screen. (the tennis match syndrome) Also, screen height should be about 20% of the distance to the farthest viewer. Thus, if your last row of seats is at 20 feet (240") , ideally your screen height should be at least 48 inches. The most comon sizes used in today's home "kino's" are 8x6 6x8 116x87 87x116 70x70 60x80 69x92 52x92 with diagonal sizes from 80" to 160" 3. SCREEN MATERIAL Determine the material best suited for your viewing location. A matte white material with a gain of 1.0-1.3 is best for locations where the light level can be controlled. It provides the truest color and image reproduction with today's LCD, DLP or CRT projectors. A 1.5 gain material will reflect more light back along the projected axis, but it is also more apt to hot-spotting and color shifts. Glass beaded or high power materials (1.8-3.0 gain) will reflect the maximum amount of light back to the viewer, but the viewing angle will be greatly affected similar to watching a big screen TV. These materials are generally used in longer, narrow rooms where some light may be uncontrollable such as a classroom. 4. SCREEN CHOICES This is a tough one. If you are setting up a dedicated Media Room your choice of screens can range from fixed, permwall, rear, front, curved, cinefold, tripod, Insta theater, electric and anything in between. All those screens are compatible with the following brands.
