Description
Listed for sale is Contax T3, a high end point and shoot meant for professional use or high-end amateur work.I've found this camera to be easily the best camera that I have used; very high quality optics from the legendary Zeiss lens.  The titanium body makes for a very solid-feeling camera, a trait common to all Contax cameras.Unfortunately, I have listed this item for sale because the take-up spool has broken.  This is a fairly well-known problem for the Contax T3.  The later Contax T3 uses a double take-up spool which is significantly more robust and less likely to break.  I have not searched for an estimate though I have read online that the fix is in the 150-200 dollar range.  I am under the impression that Contax no longer services the camera, since the company shut down in 2005.  I am listing the item AS-IS but I feel confident that the camera has absolutely no issues other than the take-up spool needing to be replaced.  I have read that ToCAD (www.tocad.com) will service Contax T3's.The camera is flawless and hyper-reliable in every way other than this take-up spool issue.  It is built very strong, the aperture ring feels very solid, the motor makes a reassuring winding sound when the lens pops out of the body.  The camera is autofocus and has an electronic manual focus feature.  I have owned the camera for only a few months but the previous owner was very into the camera also, had never had any problems.  He reported making 20x30 prints with the camera with very sharp and contrast-y results.  I have shot both color and Ilford black and white, with extremely sharp results; mostly I have used the camera for computer-viewing.The camera is the more exclusive Titanium Black, which I much prefer to the standard silver, which is more susceptible to scratches and doesn't hold up as well.  The lens is very clean and I have cleaned it twice since taking ownership using a micro-fiber pen designed specifically for cleaning compact camera lenses.  I did not clean anymore because there is a danger of scratching the lens with excessive rubbing.  There is very very minor dust found in the viewfinder (but again, not in the lens) and also in the autofocus cover, but it is no impact on the use of the camera.  The viewfinder is very bright and effective.  There is very little sign of wear whatsoever on the body, the paint has not scratched off in any part of the camera. The battery comes with the correct battery; in the time that I have owned the camera it has remained at full 100%, and never less. I would guess the battery will last a very long time before needing replacing. If you would like sample pictures from the camera I can send them on request.I am forced to relist because the previous high bidder had zero feedback and was completely out of contact.  As a result, I will not sell to anyone with zero feedback scores, and anyone with less than 5 feedback points must contact me ahead of time.  I am also unwilling to ship internationally and don't accept personal checks.  Local pickup is okay by me and encouraged.
