Description
Entirely Brand New ! Original Packing 100% Genuine B+W Product Made in Germany B+W 77mm Neutral Density (ND) 0.9 (8x) 103 Glass Filter By using this filter, it is possible to use the relatively longer shutter speeds while retaining a wide aperture even in bright illumination. This allows for the emphasis of the subject by controlling depth of field or creating motion effect with subject blur. Filter factor is 8. B+W neutral density filters are made out of neutral gray Schott NG-glass. They block the entire visible spectrum evenly and allow light reduction without influencing color rendition or contrast. Sometimes it is necessary to cut down the amount of light with neutral density filters when working with high-speed films.A neutral density filter comes in handy if you would like to increase the aperture more than the light situation and camera capabilities permit. They are also good for the long exposures which are necessary for a blur-effect or zooming during the shot. Note: Filter size in above picture is just for reference! Neutral Density Filter Number Filter Factor f-stop Reduction Density 101 2 1 0.3 102 4 2 0.6 103 8 3 0.9 106 64 6 1.8 110 1,000 10 3.0 113 10,000 13 4.0 120 1,000,000 20 6.0 They have no effect on color balance. They have four main uses: 1) To enable slow shutter speeds to be used, especially with high speed films, to record movement in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds, or cars. 2) To decrease depth of field by allowing wider apertures to be used, which helps separate subjects from their background. 3) To decrease the effective ISO of high speed film (above ISO 400) and allow it to be used outdoors in bright situations. 4) To allow cine and video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to film subjects such as snow, sand or other bright scenes which could cause overexposure. These filters are available in increments from one stop to twenty stops exposure reduction. Compared to the earlier B+W standard mount, The B+W Standard Filter Mount F-Pro has been improved considerably. While maintaining the excellent quality of materials, fabrication, and high mechanical stability, the new F-Pro mount has become thinner, so that now it can also be used on many wide-angle lenses without the danger of vignetting. Another advantage of the new F-Pro filter mount is its modified retaining ring, which is no longer threaded in from the front, but holds the filter glass in place from the back. This prevents the retaining ring from being accidentally loosened during the removal of an additional filter or a lens hood that has been screwed in too tightly.Made in Germany using high quality Schneider optical glass held in place by heavy duty brass rings, these filters are the epitome of quality. This is brand new, and sealed in original box.
